Throughout the day with all of these Kauai hiking adventures, you will encounter variety foliage including fern trees, orchids, bamboo and bromeliads and much more. You will learn to distinguish native species from introduced species as your hiking guides share the history, and the balance of the eco-environmentally sensitivity of Kauai's rainforest. In Hawaiian "limahuli" means turned hand. This soft adventure stroll is suitable for all ages and well within everyone's abilities. This Kauai hiking tour is associated with the Pacific Botanical Tropical Gardens of Lawai. This valley is currently being restored back to pre-contact splendor. A well landscaped and maintained trail winds up the valley and east facing hill, with benches strategically located to rest and take in the beauty and essence of the lush valley. Native botanical plants are numbered and identified along the trail. Your guide will share with you in detail all history, meaning and use of all the foliage you encounter. A guide book is issued to each guest for reference during the hike.

Hanakapi'ai Beach Hike:
This hike is rated Moderate to Strenuous. 3-6 hours round trip.
The Hanakapi'ai Beach Hike takes 4 to confirm the hike.
In Hawaiian, the meaning of this valley is "bay sprinkling food". In pre-contact times, its valley floor was terraced with rock walls and auwals (irrigation ditches) that diverted the up-stream water to allow it to flow through the taro patches and back to the stream.
This trail which is part of the famous Na Pali Coast trail begins at the end of highway 560 at Ke'e Lagoon. You begin gaining in elevation gradually along a garden of coco-palms, llanas, ferns and exotic native plants. A half hour into this adventure you will come to the first of many lookouts and vistas of the Na Pali Coast with the waves breaking below. 90 minutes later you will descend to Hanakapi'ai Beach where you can relax, enjoy lunch and take a swim either in the fresh water stream or ocean.
|

|
Hanakapi'ai Falls Hike:
This hike is rated Strenuous. 6-8 hours round trip.
The Hanakapi'ai Falls Hike takes 4 to confirm the hike.
The first part of this incredible Kauai eco-adventure hike takes you to Hanakapi'ai Beach. Along the way you will enjoy all the same views, scenery of the Na Pali Coast as the Hanakapi'ai Beach Hike.
Where the beach ends, the trail to the beautiful Hanakapi'ai Falls begins. This canopy covered trail will gradually gain elevation with crossing several mountain streams. Along the way you will feel the presence of old Hawaii as you climb and skirt the many elaborate rock walls and terraces cross your trail. 90 minutes later you will arrive at the base of the towering Hanakapi'ai Falls for lunch and for a swim in one of the many clear pools.

Waimea Canyon Hiking Briefs:
Waipo'o Falls Hike:
This hike is rated Moderate: 3-5 hours round trip
Road Time 3 Hours:
The Waipo'o Falls Hike takes 4 to confirm the hike.
Of all the Kauai hikes, this is one of the most satisfying with sweeping views along the way of the picturesque Waimea Canyon. Along the way to the trail head, you can stop at several scenic lookouts and marvel at the breathtaking views, many angles and unique features of the Waimea Canyon and the Koke'e highlands. The hike wanders over the Koke'e highlands following the ancient paths of the old Hawaii. An exciting new vista waits for you around every bend in the trail. At the end of this hike, lies an added Kauai attraction of a fragrant gingered covered waterfall and pool perched on the edge of the canyon. By this pool is where the hike ends, with lunch and a pause to enjoy the quiet of the canyon and the sounds of the stream.

Nu'alolo Awa'awapuhi Hike:
This hike is rated Moderate to Strenuous: 6-8 hours round trip
Road Time 3 Hours:
The Nu'alolo Awa'awapuhi Hike takes 4 to confirm the hike.
Monday through Friday Only.
This loop trail with its visual impact rivals the Na Pali Coast Trail. The Nu'alolo Awa'awapuhi trail is rated #2 in Kauai for hiking. The Nu'alolo portion of the trail is in walking distance to the historical Lodge and Museum. If there is enough time trekkers are encouraged to explore the museum to enjoy its natural history exhibits.
It is an 11 mile loop that slopes gently down through a "dry land" forest with many examples of native exotic plants and trees. Native birds will grace the day by soaring overhead. Once out of the forest, you will come to the first of many views of the Na Pali Coast. From the end of Nu'alolo you will be able to see the distant lagoon of Ke'e, where the Na Pali Coast Trail begins.
Taking the Nu'alolo Awa'awapuhi loop your journey will ultimately take you to the narrow knife edged ridge of Awa'awapuhi Trail. Here you will have to agree that the views from this fluted ridge are some of the most impressive in all Hawaii. The return will gradually gain elevation with the adventure ending at Koke'e Road.
